My thoughts on "advice"

One of my inner-self conflict in teenage years was the struggle of giving and taking advice.

On the one hand,
I thought the act of giving advice is good in general, as long as the advice comes from the mouth of a sage. Yet my “other self” was stubborn enough not to appreciate any pieces of advice from anyone from whom I did not seek for opinion in the first place.

As I’m getting older,
I kinda realise that one characteristics of advice, in particular, and of knowledge (or experience), in general; is periodicity.
As a person has not accumulated enough experiences (which may or may not be correlated to how long she or he has lived), the effectiveness of the advice, and the chances of success applying those advice, might vary. Or worse, they might not bring any good at all.
Not to mention tons of background factors that surely will have some influences.

Therefore,
Lucky for those mentees who are able to see through herself/himself to understand the kind of advice she or he is needed, and seek for them in the right place, from the right person.
And also, hats down to those mentors who are able to see through their mentees, to get their own personality and judgmetal attitude out of the way and consciously (or objectively) give the most appropriate pieces of advice to which the listener can relate and apply at once without any confusing details.

In conclusion,
not all pieces of advice are good, and the defining factor here lies on the shoulders of the people who give advice, not the ones who seek for or take.
